Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the primary decision-making body of Alliance4Life and consists of the directors from all twelve member institutions. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Alliance and meets at least twice a year, with one meeting typically held in person during the Alliance4Life’s Community Meeting. The Board’s decisions guide the Alliance’s policies and activities to achieve its mission of bridging the research and innovation gap between Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe.
Coordination and Project Management
The Alliance4Life is coordinated by Ester Jarour, Head of Strategic Partnerships at CEITEC MU. Ester Jarour serves as both the Coordinator of Alliance4Life and the Project Coordinator for the ongoing project Alliance4Life_BRIDGE, ensuring alignment between the strategic goals of the Alliance and the operational execution of its project goals. The Project Coordinator is supported by the Project Manager, Ivana Sekaninová, who also comes from CEITEC MU. Together, they ensure the smooth management of the Alliance4Life activities and the implementation of project deliverables.
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee is the project management body that leads the ongoing Alliance4Life_BRIDGE project. Its composition mirrors the A4L_BRIDGE work plan, which includes 16 work packages (WPs), some of which cover overlapping topics to align with the new lump sum funding rules. The Steering Committee is composed of the Project Coordinator (Ester Jarour), Project Manager (Ivana Sekaninová), and individual WP Leaders. The WP Leaders are responsible for managing their respective work packages and reporting progress to the Steering Committee, ensuring that project milestones are met.
Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee provides scientific guidance and support to the WP Leaders. It consists of two groups:
- Permanent Members: These are Board members of Alliance4Life with a scientific background who contribute their expertise to ensure scientific excellence and relevance in the project’s activities.
- External Experts: These experts are invited to the committee based on the specific needs of each work package, providing additional knowledge and insights into particular scientific domains as required.
Thematic Focus Groups
Alliance4Life has established eight thematic focus groups, each focusing on a specific area of research management and administration. Each group is led by a Focus Group Chair and supported by a Co-Chair. These focus groups facilitate subject relevant discussions and collaboration among experts from different member institutions, fostering knowledge sharing and joint initiatives.
Main Country Representatives
Each member institution designates a Main Country Representative. These representatives are responsible for overseeing the implementation of project activities at their respective institutions and managing the collection and reporting of project-relevant data. Their role is crucial in maintaining the flow of information and ensuring that each institution’s contributions are effectively coordinated within the broader framework of Alliance4Life.
